Rose are red.
Violets are blue.
Love is in the air,
and in our home decor too!
The winter months here in Connecticut, are long, cold and grey. And as much as I love grey, by February, I’m ready for a little color. And lucky for me, it is just in time for Valentine’s Day! Even though it is a quick month, I really like to add some fun and extra love to our house for Valentine’s Day. Red is typically not a color I use in our home decor. With a neutral based color palette, the pop of red really stands out.
Most of the decorations, I use for Valentine’s Day, I am proud to say come from the dollar store, or Target’s bargain bin. I find that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to find some glittery hearts, or red ribbon. An easy way to add Valentine decor to your kitchen is using Valentine candy. I love how candy companies, change their packaging for the holidays. I fill glass mason jars with beautifully wrapped candy, and let the shiny, colorful treats speak for themselves. It is an incredibly simple and inexpensive way to add color and decoration, and something yummy to eat!
To quote my husband “I love that our house looks festive”. I love when he says this! It lets me know he truly appreciates the work I do to decorate for every holiday and season. I think that it adds more excitement to the anticipation of holiday, and adds to the celebration. If I can share anything with you, it is that life is short and everyday and every holiday, big or small should be celebrated. Whether you are spending this Valentine’s Day with your significant other, your family, furbabies or a group of friends, celebrate it! And feel the love!
